Tunis Pensacola, has been decorated with the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) at Hurlburt Field. Mary Esther, for extraordinary flying achievement over Viet Nam. Captain Studer, son of Mr. and Mrs. William G.

Studer, 1981 Rena Circle, Atlanta, received the coveted award for successful completion of a flare mission last year which contributed materially to the successful defense of the Da Nang Air Base complex in South Viet Nam. He also was presented 10 oak leaf clusters to the Air Medal for outstanding airmanship and courage on missions in Southeast Asia. Seaman Maior A. Spence Jr. USN, son of Mrs. Maior Spence of 612 North Pensacola, is serving on the Staff of Commander Cruiser-Destroyer Flotilla Eleven aboard the guided missile cruiser USS Chicago. The Chicago is scheduled to join units of the U.

S. Seventh Fleet in operations off the Viet Nam coast. Army Pvt. George W. Booth III, whose parents live at 711 Boxwood, Pensacola, has completed nine-weeks of training as a cannoneer at Fort Kobbe, Canal Zone.

He was trained in the techniques of artillery weapons maintenance and firing and received instruction in handling combat weapons such as the M- 60 machinegun, M-79 grenade launcher and the M-14 rifle. Airman Kenneth E. Reynolds, son of Mr. and Mrs. William T.

James M. Hudson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mervin C. Hudson, 31 Stanford Road, Pensacola, has been promoted to Army specialist five Scott Air Force Base, Where he is serviing in Headquarters Battery, 53rd Artillery Group.

Specialist five is an enlisted rank equivalent to the rank of sergeant. Hudson, assigned as a missile equipment mechanic in the battery attended Escambia High School. Seaman Charles B. Wardrup, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs.

Sam Wardrup of 3820 Kelly Pensacola, is serving on the Seventh Fleet ammunition ship USS Haleakala, back on station after visiting Sasebo, Japan. The visit to Sasebo followed the Haleakala's eighth patrol in support of combat operations in South Viet Nam. She also supported the aircraft carriers Intrepid and Constellation. Army Pvt.
