The Department of Biology and Chemistry at Washington Adventist University is seeking a qualified candidate with experience teaching undergraduate Organic Chemistry course with the associated laboratory course. The lecture session meet 3 times per week (55 min each lecture) and the lab course meets once a week for 3 hours in the early afternoon.
Applicants submitting applications are applying for a non-tenure, part-time position but with significant input in course design. The yearly contract is renewable upon satisfactory review.
Applicants who meet the required qualifications will be selected for an interview. The decisions to hire an applicant is made at the discretion of the department.
Primary Duties
Teach Organic Chemistry lectures and associated laboratory for science major students.
Teach pertinent course content using lectures, labs, demonstrations, class discussion, and other appropriate modes of educational delivery that promote educational and learning processes.
Hold three office hours per week (negotiable).
Prepare course outline and syllabus, develop course, and lesson plans, and engage in the selection of textbook and other teaching aids necessary to the instruction of courses.
Engage and assist students by providing notes, timely grades, and feedback via a Learning Management System (LMS).

Supervise the use and keep proper maintenance of laboratories instruments and equipment
Qualifications
Ph.D. degree in Organic Chemistry, Chemical Sciences, or a related field from an accredited university.
Familiarity with Infrared (IR) and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and HPLC instruments uses and application.
Prior college or university teaching experience preferred.
Ability to integrate technology into course delivery and small research projects.
Ability to communicate and work with a diverse population of students both in and outside the classroom via a Learning Management System platform (Desire2Learn, D2L).
