Please sign online guest registry wwwjtewartfh.com Tim Stewart PUNCH, Elsie Elsie Charlene Clark Punch, age 79, died on April 28, 2007, surrounded by her family, at Heartland Hospice of Dunwoody after a brief struggle with cancer. Born on Memorial Day in 1927, she was the eldest daughter of Juanita Bradley Clark Mann and Ellis Clark.

Elsie Punch was born in Atlanta, graduated from Atlanta Girls' High School, attended the Atlanta Division of the University of Georgia, was in the Civil Air Patrol Cadets during World War II, and lived all of her life in Atlanta, except for the first two years of her marriage spent in San Francisco. Her husband agreed to return his Southern Belle to the much-missed hometown and friends when they were expecting their first child. Elsie was always enthusiastically active in the lives of their four children. She was troop leader for various Girl Scout troops, den mother for Boy Scouts, and offered her home for meetings even if she was not the leader. Elsie was also active in elementary and high school PTAs and served on numerous committees at Briarcliff United Methodist Church.

Her husband, Ray McLane Punch, died in 1971. Elsie was a model of strength after her husband's early death, returning to her pre-marriage employer, BellSouth, and retiring from that southern institution in 1991. Elsie was perpetually social, engaging and outgoing, so enjoyed many friendships throughout her life. Friends and family provided love and sustenance after Ray's death. Old friends were bedrocks of support.

New friendships were always easily made because of Elsie's most amiable personality. She also made sure to maintain relationships with Ray's family, who were scattered across the country. Her voice was described as sounding like she was always smiling, an important aspect when most of the continuing contact was via long phone conversations. Elsie was an avid reader, bridge player and counted cross-stitcher. Her legacy to her family, and what her grandchildren will remember, is her unconditional love, patience and endurance to play board games with them, pride in their accomplishments, her insatiable curiosity and lifelong passion for learning, including septuagenarian computer expertise.

She devoted a great deal of thought and energy to genealogy during her retirement, making new friends of the many distant cousins whom she grew to know well during her research. Elsie is survived by her sisters: Carolyn Clark Williams and Sandra Clark Peppers; brother-in-law, Daniel Peppers; children and their spouses: Lynda Goldberg, Richard M. Goldberg, J. Bradley Punch, Elizabeth P. Punch, Patricia P.

Meadows, Jeffrey W. Meadows, and Robert M. Punch; and grandchildren: Julia R. Goldberg, Samuel A. Goldberg, Benjamin B.

Punch, Michael P. Punch, James C. Meadows, Katherine A. Meadows, and Sarah E. Punch.

Funeral service will be at Lowndes McLane Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 2 at 11 am, followed by interment at Floral Hills Memory Gardens at 3000 Lawrenceville Highway in Tucker. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday evening, from 6 to 8 pm, and an hour before the service on Wednesday morning. The family requests contributions in memory of Elsie to the Patient and Family Resource Center at UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center in Chapel Hill, NC in lieu of flowers. Cremation Society of the SOUTH was entrusted with the arrangements 770-420-5557. CREMATION SOCIETY MEGAN CALLAHAN RYAN Devoted mother, wife, sister, teacher, athlete and coach succumbed to her battle with cancer at the age of 35 on April 28th.

She was the ninth of ten children born to the late Mary Byrne and Bob Callahan and was raised in Dunwoody. She attended St. Jude The Apostle Catholic School then St. Pius High School and went on to earn a degree in Spanish from the University of Richmond where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. In high school Megan was a talented athlete excelling in volleyball, soccer and especially basketball for which she was named the Dekalb County Player of the Year her senior season.

She accomplished all of this while providing significant care and support to her late sister Ann who suffered from Neurofibromatosis. She also found time to counsel other special needs children at Camp Will-A-Way in the North Georgia Mountains and was very active in the Sunday school program for those same children at St. Jude's. Megan's teaching and coaching accomplishments were remarkable given her all too short career. Professionally she started her educational vocation at her Alma Mater St.

Pius and was quickly named the Chairman of the Math Department. Shortly after her marriage she spent a year at Seton Hall Prep in Northern New Jersey and then returned to the Atlanta area and took a position with the newly created Blessed Trinity High School where she was Director of Admissions and an Assistant Principal. Last summer just before her diagnosis she assumed the title of Principal Early Years Campus of Notre Dame Academy in Duluth. Her Coaching career included a trip to the elite eight as head coach of the St. Pius Basketball Lady Lions and in soccer she took three schools to State Finals and her teams at SPX and Blessed Trinity were both crowned State Champions.

She was named GHSA State Coach of the Year during both of these championship seasons. She met her husband Tom while both were teaching and coaching at St. Pius. Their love of sports and education made them a natural match. Tom currently is a teacher and assistant football coach at The Westminster Schools.

They made their home in Roswell and in 2003 started their family with the birth of a son John and one year later their daughter Maura. Maura was born prematurely in Savannah and together they endured the 88 days which their daughter spent in NICU's in both Savannah and Atlanta and are now blessed with two healthy vibrant youngsters. Unfortunately her life was taken by adenocarcinoma of the lungs. A non-smoker who once completed the San Diego Marathon, she stayed physically fit competing in ALTA tennis, flag football and even sky dived. She loved traveling with her family to Alaska, Canada, the Caribbean and Ireland where as many as 40 of her family members enjoyed the generosity of her late father whose funeral mass was celebrated the day before her diagnosis.

She also enjoyed weekends at the family's home on Lake Seed in Rabun County. She will be deeply missed by Tom and her children her brothers, sisters, in-laws, nephews and nieces for her infectious smile and amazing laugh. Her short life was lived to the fullest and while she will be missed by family and friends, students and players the real loss is for those whose lives would have been influenced and changed had she been allowed to continue on her journey through life. She is also survived by her brothers and their Bob and Kathy, Tom and Judy, Kevin and Kim, Neal and Terri, John and Valerie and Dennis and Emily, her sisters and their husbands, Maureen and George Gottfried and Sheila and Andy Spikes and Brothers in law Kevin and Gerald Ryan of Nutley, NJ and numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to The Mary Byrne Callahan Scholarship Fund at St.

Pius High School. A funeral mass will be said Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at 11 a.m. at St Jude the Apostle Catholic Church. Monsignor Richard Lopez will serve as celebrant. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 p.m.
