It’s been three and a half years since we last visitedRound1 Bowling & Amusem*nt, located inside Towne East Square at 7700 E. Kellogg Dr.

Since then, my daughter is much older and has found a fascination with ticket redemption and crane games. I’ve also had a lot more practice over the years and felt it was time to bring her back, as the last time we went, my daughter wasn’t even a year old.

Round1 has it all when it comes to entertainment, there’s bowling, arcade games, ticket redemption games, pool, a little sports bar and so much more.

Of course, we started our visit with the games. Since 2020, patrons now get more credits for their money. Here’s a look at the current charges (2024)…

… versus what the charges were back in 2020. At least it appeared that way. Looking back at older blogs, it looks like the price of the games went up.

The big draw and most noticeable difference between Round1 and other places like Dave & Busters or Chuck E. Cheese are the crane games. There’s a ton more crane games and the quality of the stuffed animals or as my daughter calls them, “stuffies” are wonderful. I’m talking, very plush and soft. Most of the larger crane games were 14 credits versus 12 when they first opened.

There were also smaller crane games with tiny plushes for roughly 8–10 credits, versus 7-9 back in 2020. The smaller ones were extremely easy, and we walked away with a handful of winnings here.

It took us a while… or actually, me a while, but we finally managed to get a larger plush. I was struggling at first, took a break to watch some YouTube videos on crane games and came back a winner.

She wanted fries and a bottled water. A bottled water at Round1 was $2.99 which was definitely one of the pricier places in town. A bottle of water and this basket of fries set me back $8.

…And the fries were disappointing to say the least. Void of salt and similar to Burger King in terms of boring fries. These required lots of ketchup to make it manageable.

I decided to go ahead and eat as well.

Round1 recently unveiled a new Japanese menu. Since I’m a sucker for that sort of food, I had a bowl of teriyaki chicken for $9.99. The portion size was lacking quite a bit for $10. If you love an extremely sweet sauce, then you will enjoy this teriyaki bowl. The texture of the chicken was a bit off; very tofu-esque. Safe to say, it was the worst chicken teriyaki I’ve had from a “restaurant” in Wichita.

To be honest, we should have just stuck to the games at Round1. If we were to eat again at the mall, it would just be at the food court. That is, unless you’re getting ice cream.

The best value at Round1 is the 99-cent scoops of ice cream. My daughter had the cotton candy ice cream and loved it. Not a bad way to end our visit with a$1.06 purchase (including tax).

The conclusion at Round1.

Games were a ton of fun; I mean it can get pricey, but that’s to be expected if you’re visiting a place like this. My daughter enjoyed the daddy/daughter Sunday fun day, which is what matters most to me. We walked away with some unnecessary stuffed animals that will only get me in more trouble at home as we walk in the door with more stuff to put in her room.

The food was very subpar, but the ice cream was delicious (according to her) and an outstanding value.

Here’s their menu:
