The Green Bay Packers were back in action at training camp Wednesday.
The practice featured a win for the offense in the two-minute drill, some nice throws from quarterback Jordan Love and wide receiver Romeo Doubs impressing against cornerback Jaire Alexander.
Our PackersNews team had live updates. Here's how the practice went:
Packers' eighth practice ends
That's the end of about a two-hour practice at Ray Nitschke Field on another hot day.
We're halfway through the team's 16 scheduled practices in training camp.
Jordan Love connects with Dontayvion Wicks for touchdown, two-point conversion in two-minute drill
With eight seconds left, quarterback Jordan Love found wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks in the back middle of the end zone for a touchdown in the two-minute drill. The offense goes for two and wins, as Love scrambled and again found Wicks alone in the back middle of the end zone for the conversion.
In the drill, Love was 5-for-6 for 38 yards and a 27-yard scramble to convert a third-and-10.
To be fair, Rashan Gary had a sack on the third-and-10 scramble. But it’s practice, so coaches let the play extend. And you can’t give Love extra chances at this point. He’ll burn you.
Jordan Love finds Christian Watson on a deep ball
On a third-and-6 play, wide receiver Christian Watson ran behind cornerback Keisean Nixon down the left sideline — and Love does not miss.
Love dropped it perfectly to Watson in stride over his shoulder for about 40 yards. It was their second deep-ball connection early in camp.
Love came back on the next third down to drop a dime to an open Wicks on a deep corner for about 40 yards, but Wicks dropped it off his fingertips.
Bo Melton shows hustle to force fumble after interception
Safety Xavier McKinney undercut a Love pass to wide receiver Bo Melton on a crosser for an interception. The pass was badly underthrown over the middle.
But here’s where Melton’s scrappiness is special. He got up and chased down McKinney, forcing a fumble from behind.
A lot of receivers would quit on that practice rep, but not Melton.
Edgerrin Cooper leaves practice
Inside linebacker Edgerrin Cooper was escorted inside by a trainer for an unspecified ailment.
It might have been heat-related because Cooper returned to the sideline and watched the rest of practice.
Romeo Doubs has upper hand on Jaire Alexander
Wide receiver Romeo Doubs and cornerback Jaire Alexander continue to have a spirited battle in 1-on-1s.
Doubs has gotten the best of Alexander often, responding to Alexander’s tight coverage with sharp cuts that have left the veteran corner grabbing for air.
The drill is heavily weighted to the offense because there's no pass rush and the cornerbacks are playing press coverage every snap.
Doubs not only had some sharp cuts, but he made an over-the-middle catch on one rep.
Welcome to the NFL, MarShawn Lloyd
Rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd, taking his first team reps of camp, got an introduction to an NFL practice.
Lloyd stumbled in the backfield and ran into a wall. He turned to head back to the huddle, but he didn’t “finish” the run, so running backs coach Ben Sirmans nudged the rookie downfield.
A big catch for wide receiver Grant DuBose in his battle to make the roster
Wide receiver Grant DuBose has maybe the catch of camp. Sean Clifford threw deep down the right side, up for grabs, and DuBose skied over safeties Evan Williams and Zayne Anderson for a 50-50 catch.
Later, DuBose got a first-team rep ... and dropped a pass from Love. He got open on a stop route against Eric Stokes, but the ball slipped through his hands.
Jordan Morgan does well in line's 1v1 drills
First-round draft pick Jordan Morgan certainly looks the part in the line's 1v1 drills.
He beat Devonte Wyatt in two of three reps and won his only rep against T.J. Slaton.
Morgan’s ability to adapt and mirror is uncanny. It comes from good feet, which was the book on him when the Packers drafted him.
Tucker Kraft getting closer to returning to practice
Before practice, coach Matt LaFleur said tight end Tucker Kraft is getting closer to returning to practice.
"He is asking every day to be out there, which is what you want," LaFleur said. "As soon as the medical staff gives us clearance, he will be out there."

Matt LaFleur giving Packers a ‘gut check’ practice today
LaFleur calls this eighth practice of thePackers training campa “gut check” for his young team.
With temperatures reaching the mid-80s early this afternoon, LaFleur said he expects to have no adjustments to practice. The heat will be similar to Tuesday, but with one exception. The Packers will have a substantially longer practice Wednesday, meaning much more time in the heat.
“Guys are going to have to dig deep today,” LaFleur said. “Because we were a little lethargic yesterday, and it wasn’t a very long practice. Today is going to be a lot longer. I envision at least a half-hour longer, a lot of reps. So we know it’s going to be hot. I warned them yesterday to make sure they take care of their hydration, everything they put in their body. Make sure you get a good night’s rest.
“It’s going to be a little bit of a gut check, I think.”
